SUPERVISOR DIMITRIJEVIC TO JOIN NEIGHBORS ON MILWAUKEE COUNTY BUS ROUTE SLATED FOR CUTBACKS
Will ride with neighbors in a show of solidarity and support for Routes 11 and 15
Milwaukee, WI - Milwaukee County Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic will join her neighbors from the Bay View area riding a Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus Monday morning. While the County Executive is in the preliminary stages of the budget process, he is considering eliminating Route 11 completely and scaling back Route 15 by a third.
“Route 15 is one of the busiest routes in our system and plays a major role in the continued growth of our Bay View business district,” Supervisor Dimitrijevic said. “Rather than cutting, we should be reducing fares and increasing service in hopes of attracting new riders and reducing traffic and pollution, critical components of a modern, progressive city.”
Who: Bay View residents and Milwaukee County Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic
What: Ride on MCTS Route 15 Northbound Bus
When: Monday, August 6, 2007, 7 a.m.
Where: Corner of KK and Russell, Milwaukee’s South Side
“We’re riding the Route 15 bus into downtown Milwaukee Monday morning to show our opposition to these devastating route cuts,” Supervisor Dimitrijevic added. “We invite all of our neighbors to take a stand against these cuts to vital transportation links.”

SUPERVISOR DIMITRIJEVIC: STATEMENT ON THIS MORNING’S RIDE ON BUS ROUTE SLATED FOR CUTBACKS
Riders send strong message to County Executive: No service cuts or fare increases
Milwaukee, WI – Milwaukee County Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic released the following statement after joining her Bay View neighbors riding a Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus route into downtown Milwaukee this morning.
“A coalition of residents from Bay View and other South Side neighborhoods sent a message to County Executive Scott Walker this morning by riding the 7 a.m. Route 15 bus into downtown. I’m pleased that Milwaukee Alderman Tony Zielinski, who represents the Bay View neighborhood, also rode the bus in opposition to these proposed service cuts. I thank him for also being proactive on this important issue that affects the neighborhood we represent together.
Route 15 is one of the busiest routes in our system and plays a major role in the continued growth of our Bay View business district. Rather than cutting, we should reduce fares and increase service in hopes of attracting new riders and reducing traffic and pollution, critical components of a modern, progressive city.”
