Community Building and Restoration

Historic front porches are my favorite thing to build and restore. As the entrance to the home, the porch often announces the house’s architectural style with the highest concentration of intricate, complex, and interesting details.

Since the porch is the transition point between interior and exterior, its construction demands skill and knowledge in framing, and interior and exterior finish carpentry. Note in our pictures the half-round stairs, the careful attention paid to baluster spacing, and the level of detail on the columns.

Especially challenging is the porch’s need for carpentry of a quality one usually associates only with the interior of houses, but assembled so that it can withstand exposure to the elements.

For this reason, we are familiar with all the traditional building techniques, and have adopted a number of unique or uncommon approaches to insure the durability of our porch construction.

We promise that you won’t find a better looking, more historically accurate, longer-lasting porch in the Milwaukee area.
