Michael
Just a little something I wanted to share with you. I stopped by the other day to pick a few ripe veggies and take some photos of the ‘growings on’ at your place.
The veggies harvested in the photo were given to the friend that lent me the camera. She made a beautiful salad, with fresh spicy romaine lettuce, beet greens, green beens, and slivers of beet and carrot for her family to enjoy.
Much thanks to you, for providing room for me to grow (in many ways)
A share of the harvest is also yours to enjoy, as soon as it is ready for picking.

Wow! Michael, this is so inspiring!!!
I am truly touched!
I’ll send this to Mike Moynihan too. He needs to know that MPT makes a difference. And maybe we can even put this on our website.
Thanks so much, Michael!

Hi Barbara,
Ever wonder what happened to packets of vegetable seeds handed out by MPT as ‘the Seeds of Hope’ in 2002?
Well, I saved those seeds (some of them) and made it a goal to find a living space, or live near a place where I could plant those seeds and make them grow.
This Spring, just before leaving for Minneapolis, I started a plot in the backyard farm of James Godsil, in Bay View.
His tiny Urban Agriculture operation, inspired and informed by Will Allen and ‘Growing Power’ is in its second year of soil cultivation and planting.
Here is the result of seed saved for 6 years and planted in soil converted from raw dirt and weeds into a place of green, healthy goodness… and sowed with ‘the Seeds of Hope’
Just wanted to share this with you, as a little shot in the arm, in case you are ever wondering if your efforts of the past have a lasting influence on the lives of the people who have participated in working with the community through MPT.
Let me know if you would like to have some fresh veggies from this year’s harvest. I would love to share them with you, in gratitude for the seeds.
Keeping hope alive and growing,
Michael Pettit

Godsil asks Michael and Barbara if he can share this exchange.
Why not! It’s pretty inspiring! BL
Yes, I would love to share this. I want everyone to know how this came together, and to share in the understanding of the good things that have come into my life through appreciating and making use of the inspiration, hope and opportunity that you both have given me, and offer to everyone, in so many ways.
This garden plot is more than just a symbol of that, it is a living reality that has been cultivated and grown from it.
Let this little patch of green life-giving growth, stand as a model and a message of how I will use my life to answer the hope and the giving spirit that you send to us all, through your work.
Tears of joy and prayers of thanks well up in me, with every bite… so sweet!
