I am praying for the arrival of a high powered public intellectual with sufficient background in political economics to lead or guide research teams around this concept. Since Toffler’s “Future Shock” and Schumacher’s “Small Is Beautiful” from the 1970s I have been witnessing what appears to be the “de-massification” of public and private institutions in the USA and Milwaukee. I have asked many Milwaukee public and private sector leaders for the names of Milwaukee theorists who offer the most nuanced and well research portrait of Milwaukee’s political economy. To date no one has offered any names. Any ideas?
