Easter Sunday, 2005

There are a growing number of activists across town who are planning to gather at the Soldiers Home on May 1 to honor the oft-neglected contribution of women and workers to peace and justice.

The event will probably not be very formal, consisting of walking, talking, and even praying.

Some will draw upon the tradition of May 1 as International Workers Day.

Others will focus on St. Joseph the Patron Saint of Workers.

Still others will remember May 1 as Mary the Mother of Christ’s Day.

Finally, it is hoped that people outside the socialist and Catholic tradition, including Muslims,Jews, Hindus, Budhists, and American Indians, will bring forth metaphors and stories pertaining to May 1 as symbolic of Spring’s arrival.

80 invites sent in about 80 minutes. One per minute.
