And the fairies carried the stones
To the top of the hill
So the villagers would not quarrel
As to the location of the Church.

From that time forward
The people of the village
Were called “John of God’s Hill,”
Later shorted to “John Godsil,”
By the English, who did not want
The people of God’s Hill to take themselves
Too seriously.

My people were honored with the job of
Gravediggers of God’s Hill.

I have had to apply myself intensely
To live up to such august antecedents.

Welcome to the Milwaukee Renaissance,
Perhaps the virtual reality that will make
A renaissance a reality in Milwaukee,
Over the next 5 or 10 generations.

Why don’t we aspire to be the Mind,
Or perhaps the Soul, of the
Emerging Great Lakes Region.

Chicago can be the body.
Toronto can be the “right mind,”
We can be the “left mind.”
