Growing Power on Milwaukee Renaissance

First Post, April 21, 2006

This is the “acknowledgement page for the generations” for those who offer anywhere from $5, to $10, to $25, and up, for the material cost of $2,500 for a Habitat for Humanity labor, Growing Power material “Worm Condo” at the Growing Power City Farm.

Will has been giving people worms “gratis” since the beginning of Growing Power. For those in the Milwaukee metro area who become “donor/investors,” I will personally drive the worms over to their gardens.

It is beginning to appear that the donors to the Growing Power Worm Condo, if they are to receive some of Will’s worms, will be asked to consider experiencing a Will Allen Worm Care Workshop. Will is very careful to insure that his worms will find “caretakers” wise enough to place the worms in circumstnaces that find them happy, working, thriving, and reproducing. As of this writing he has offered to have a workshop. His schedule may mean a June workshop. Someone has to call Loretta at Growing Power and see if she can find a time on Will’s schedule to offer this workshop. Then we must work to make sure a minimum of 5 people attend.

Each workshop participant will receive 5 pounds of Will’s and Growing Power’s worms upon graduation. A certificate of “Worm Caretaker Provider” perhaps would be worth considering. I hope someone shows up to make this great idea come to pass. The outcome would be significant for our fair city. A minimum donation of $20 per workshop participant and worm recipient is expected. If someone would like to earn a partial scholarship by offering the heavy lifters some smart and efficient labor power, let me know.
