There are expenses that exceed the scholarship offered to me by the Cuban Ministry of Health:
The most expensive cost each year are the TRAVEL EXPENSES.
There are no direct flights from the United States to Cuba (due to the embargo).

In order to come back to my community to practice medicine, I must pass the United States Medical Licensing Exam. Their are three parts to this examination (or three “Steps”). I will take the Falcon preaparation courses ($5000) for Step 1 and the Step 1 exam ($800) after my third year in the program. I will take Step 2 ($6000) after my graduation date (2012).
Several of my living expenses, that were suggested to bring (to prevent the depletion of Cuba’s limited resorces), include the following:
Medicine / Vitamins
Pain Relievers (Aspirin)
Multi-Vitamins
Antiseptic (Ointment)
Anti-itch Cream
