Itinerary for US visit October 2007 12th 19th October
Day 1 Fri 12th
Leave Gatwick 10.15
Arrive in Cincenatti CVG 14.15, fly straight on to Milwaukee MKE 15.21 15.44.
Meet Godsil from Growing Power
Check in to Homestays
On Friday, besides a zig-zag drive to see some sights from the airport to your apartment, including the Hoan Bridge, Calatrava, and Lake Park, I hope you would consider a 20 minute stop at our Urban Ecology Center to meet Ken Leinbach, making history in mighty collaborations with Growing Power. www.urbanecologycenter.org

2:30 to 4 p.m.
- Visit to West and North Side Milwaukee Community Garden Sites, e.g. award winning Walnut Way, Muneer’s Ceramic Art Studio in pretty empty industrial corridor awaiting “the movement,” the Amaranth Bakery and Cafe
4 to 7 p.m.
- Visit to Riverwest and Eastside destinations and people, including Stephanie Philipps’ Harambee Reclamation Garden, Pietre Godfrey’s re-cycle complex, the Urban Ecology Center, to meet with Milwaukee River Work Group transforming our once depressing river valley into “Milwaukee’s Central Park” and perhaps some members of the Milwaukee Urban Agriculture Network, perhaps with some music by the Embedded Reporter, maybe some Earth Poets’ poetry.
7 p.m. until ???
- Visit night spots, perhaps some Reggae at Club Timbuktu, and options we’ll identfy over next several days.
Day 3 Sun 14th
Blueberry pancake breakfast at the Riverwest Co-op Cafe?
Drive to Chicago

Dinner with local food officers and workers in Chicago

Day 5 Tues 16th
AM Meet Harry Rhodes Growing Home in the morning around 9 am at one of our urban farms on the south side of Chicago (start at Su Casa), and then go to our second urban farm (Wood St. urban farm). After the visit we could get lunch at a local Mexican restaurant that we like.

Meet with Cathy Durand, Deputy Commissioner at the Department of Agriculture and Markets and am responsible for organizing and coordinating the work of the Food Policy Council re: the New York Food Policy Council
Added Value (Red Hook), Brooklyn food access and growing project?
Lunch at 360 or ICI?
East NY Farms!?
Meeting with officials in New York government (including the Food Policy task force) and local park authorities. Local press work.
Day 8 19th Fri
9AM Visit New York Sun Works project (http://nysunworks.org/)? 5 blocks from Times Square 42nd street subway (A or C)?
