Sustainability, Mutuality, and Ecological Justice

Critical performance dimensions included organization efficiency in creating goods and services with enough market value to pay the bills but also make a mark in advancing environmental and community stewardship, i.e. sustainability.

The mutuality dimension involves the notion of partnerships, team work, and work as a calling that satisfies personal needs as well as ethical imperatives. Collaborative decision making, a “facilitation leadership,” clients as partners, and a minimization of hierarchy are some of the key aspects of mutuality in Sweet Water’s interpretation of solidarity economics.

Ecological justice as a performance dimension means that a critical Sweet Water goal is to contribute to the efforts of people at home and abroad to address the environmental crisis brought upon by the excess and hubris that has marked the command posts and culture of the industrial epoch.
