I woke up this morning thinking of Central Park. So many possiblities. My first thought is to involve the youth of the
city.

Get the schools interested in River conservation.
Have them think of Sculpture and other projects. Get all of the schools involved: MSOE, MIAD, UWM, MATc and Milwaukee Public Schools etc. to work on this together. Example: Grade School and High School design sculpture with the Engineering and Art Students.

There is a friend of Marillyn who lives on Hampton who develops prairie environments. He knows how to recreate the environment so that he can grow plants like Lady Slippers which are indigenous to Door County. One summer I went home to care for my mom after surgery and during my time in Rockford I would ride my bike on a path that was newly formed along the river. It had little excercise stations along the way for runners and walkers, sculpture made of materials one would find in nature: Rock people I loved it.

A lagoon was near by and part of the Park system which had swans and ducks to feed in the summer and skating in the winter. Then I think of the Tuilleries in Paris, with benches and Sculpture and a Carousel. Have you seen the Chicago Botanical Gardens? A citywide soccor field that the kids can play on so they get to know each other. Have the kids plant it with help form older people. Have them run a greenhouse. Do the Will Allen method of growing which involves youth. Tie it into the Domes and VA. Use the Fairy Castle as an educational center for environmental preservation and heathy food development and teaching better nutrition. Somehow tie all neighborhoods together. See if Vets would like to help out. Homeless made to feel like they have something to contribute.

I think we need Press TV, Radio, Bus signs? Ask people what they think or want.
