5/21 Milwaukee DSA Meeting Reminder

Quick reminder of our next General Meeting this Sunday, 1:30–3:30pm at 1535 W Mitchell St. We will be spending some time planning the Sewer Socialism event on 6/10. If you have ideas on how we should approach the topic, we want to hear them, or if you have some sources you want to share please bring that information. Milwaukee DSA presents: A discussion on Sewer Socialism

We are currently reaching out to speakers, but if we cannot secure one, we will still hold a conversation on the topic and what that means for socialism in Milwaukee today. We will also need help with planning the logistics of the event.

If you’re interested in learning more about socialism in city government before our event, the Zeidler Center for Public Discussion is hosting an event on Milwaukee’s last (TBD) socialist mayor Frank Zeidler on Tuesday 5/23. Local historian John Gurda will be giving a talk on Zeidler’s life and impact on Milwaukee history. You can find more details here.

Prior to our meeting on Sunday, our Healthcare Subcommittee will also be holding a meeting at the General Meeting location starting at 12:30pm to discuss short- and long-term goals and actions for the chapter.

You can find the preliminary agenda for Sunday’s General Meeting here. We’re asking any members interested in presenting new business or announcements at the meeting to please bring a paper copy to help us better maintain a record.
