Combatting Poverty Symposium

Here’s a reminder about the “Combatting Poverty: Elevating the Debate” event on Wednesday.

Bishop Miller (Episcopal), Bishop Barrow (ELCA) and Bishop Hying (Catholic) will all have roles in this, as will WISDOM religious leaders, Marilyn Miller, Willie Brisco, Michael Mueller, Yusuf Buckley, and others.

It should be a pretty energizing event, bringing out a diverse group of religious leaders (lay and clergy) to talk about how we, as faith communities need to respond to poverty, especially in the context of an election year. How can we make poverty the biggest moral issue in the public debate (rather than the very limited set of issues that are usually assumed to be the faith community’s concerns).

There is no cost — we just ask people to sign up on the Wisconsin Council of Churches website, so we know how many people to expect.
