Focus Group for Persons with Mental Health Issues

Mental Health Task Force Update

Please help us to share this invitation to individuals with lived experience of mental illness to participate in a focus group on January 11, sponsored by the Wisconsin Center for Nursing. The invitation is copied below.

You are invited to a Focus Group on Mental Health Care and Referral in Milwaukee Area Emergency Departments

We are looking for adults with mental health issues who have used Milwaukee Area Hospital Emergency Departments (ED’s) in the past five years to volunteer for a focus group discussion. The purpose of the discussion is to examine your experiences in having your physical and mental health complaints addressed when visiting the ED as well as follow-up care.

This work is sponsored by the Wisconsin Center for Nursing through a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Grant and by the Faye McBeath Foundation. The goal of this project is to increase interdisciplinary care for persons with mental illness. Outcomes are to increase satisfaction with mental health care services and to develop positive transitions in care for persons receiving services in Milwaukee Area Hospital ED’s. For more information on this focus group and to RSVP, please call Carol Sabel at 262–382–6309 or e-mail at

The focus group is expected to last an hour and a half and will be guided by Mary Neubauer MSW, CPS Co-Chair of the Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force and Sharon Quinlan MS, RN. Aurora Ambulatory Health Care. The focus group will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 4:00 PM, at Aurora Administrative Offices, 750 West Virginia Street (Timbers Building), Racine/Kenosha Rooms. Beverages and food will be served.

Please be assured that we respect your privacy and all information obtained during the focus group will remain confidential.

We hope you can join us and look forward to hearing your recommendations for receiving the care you need in Milwaukee Area Hospital ED’s.

Sharon Quinlan, Mary Neubauer
