GO Pass Update

Mental Health Task Force/ Make It Work Milwaukee Update

We wanted to share a few updates regarding our work to educate policy makers and the community about the benefits of the GO Pass program and to make the case for it to continue to be available as an important support for people with disabilities and older adults.

  • Several people testified to the Milwaukee County Mental Health Board about the benefits of the GO Pass and how essential it is to the people who are served by Milwaukee County BHD. One especially impactful speaker was a gentleman from Grand Avenue Club who relies on his GO Pass to attend GAC, go to the VA (he is a veteran), grocery shopping, connect with family, and much more. He also joined me for an interview with TMJ4 about the GO Pass and was outstanding.

  • The County Board Committee on Transportation, Public Works and Transit met yesterday and heard a report about the GO Pass including a proposal for a moratorium on enrollment. Community Advocates ED Andi Elliot did a great job representing our coalitions and speaking in support of the GO Pass - she shared the attached paper with supervisors. Supervisors Dimitrijevic and Weishan also spoke about how beneficial the GO Pass has been and Supervisor Dimitrijevic shared some of the comments from our survey.

  • We will continue to keep you posted and encourage you to share the benefits of the GO Pass with County Executive Abele to help inform budget decisions. Thanks to all for your great collaboration to share the benefits of the GO Pass and the need to continue this vital program.
