LTC Coalition Memo JFC

Good morning,

During the past month, the Department of Health Services (DHS) and insurance companies have been leaning on the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) to take a vote on the Concept Paper regarding the changes to Family Care and IRIS, and DHS issued a statement saying that the Family Care and IRIS 2.0 model will save taxpayers $300 million over six years.

We know that Senate Republican members of the Joint Finance Committee have asked DHS a series of questions regarding the Concept Paper.

Members of the LTC Coalition steering committee worked to draft the attached document which is a response to cost savings claims made by DHS and the claims that three big regions are the only way to have actuarially sound regions in the new system. The memo was sent to JFC.

Given the fact that Senate Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee have been asking for more information and asking questions of DHS, it is especially important for constituents to contact them to follow up on the points in this document. Contact info for Milwaukee area Senate Republicans is below. And of course, please contact your state Senator or Representative to express your concerns even if they are not on the JFC.
