Our comments on Trump budget, & Community Catalyst resources re CBO score

Here’s a new WI Budget Project blog post re the MA and CHIP cuts in the Trump budget, including some brief comments about their effects on the state budget:

Also the following message from Community Catalyst has some useful resources relating to the CBO score.

CBO Score Is Out - Resources To Respond

Today’s release of the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) score of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) further confirms what we already know: the AHCA is a terrible bill for consumers, especially kids, older adults, people with disabilities and low- and middle-income families. According to the CBO’s analysis, 23 million people would lose their health care coverage by 2026, all to finance tax cuts for the wealthy.

The CBO score comes at a crucial moment – not only are senators working behind closed doors on legislation, but members of Congress will head back home for the Memorial Day recess. To support you in responding to the CBO’s analysis, we have compiled the following resources:

Community Catalyst’s press statement
Talking Points on the AHCA’s impact and Senate negotiations

Finally, be sure to check out ResistanceNearMe.org, a partnership between MoveOn, the Center for American Progress and the Town Hall Project. ResistanceNearMe.org lists events and actions happening across the country including: congressional town halls, listening sessions, constituent/adopt-a-district town halls, and broader resistance rallies and protests.

Thank you for your continued advocacy
