Visit our solitary confinement cell replica

The solitary confinement cell that we had built for the WISDOM action on the Capitol steps on October 1st has been installed for viewing this week at Madison Christian Community, 7118 Old Sauk Road, Madison.
The church is open weekdays from 8–4.

There will be a forum, led by Reverend Jerry Hancock, on Tuesday evening, November 18th at 7:00 pm. The event will include speakers, testimonials and a talking circle.

There will also be some hours during the week that the cell will be available for viewing and/or spending some time sitting inside of it, in meditation or prayer or simply in deep reflection about the reality of what we are doing to our brothers and sisters inside our prisons.

If you’re interested in this opportunity, please contact: Lisa Bauer, 608–345–6992,, or Rev. Jerry Hancock, 608.658.6630,

Our hope is to get the solitary cell into other communities in 2015.

The international community considers any more than 15 days in solitary confinement to be torture. Wisconsin regularly keeps people isolated for months and even years.

Help us reform this practice by making a contribution to WISDOM on Giving Tuesday, December 2. Watch for your personal invitation. Or donate now on our website,
