Opportunity to Voice Your Opinions

On January 19, January 26, and January 27, Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner will host town hall meetings in his district. Congress will be making critical budget decisions about programs and services for people with disabilities over the next few weeks. As a senior member of Congress and fiscal conservative, Rep. Sensenbrenner has influence in the House of Representatives. He also has sponsored legislation signed into law to strengthen the Americans with Disabilities Act.

He has scheduled these town hall meetings to hear the views of constituents about the federal budget, federal debt, and state of the economy. Funding and eligibility for entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security will be under discussion by Congress. Discretionary programs which receive a fixed sum of funding are still scheduled to get cut unless Congress and the White House act.

If funds for discretionary programs are cut, Wisconsin will receive less federal aid to support a wide range of programs serving people with disabilities. Employment services such as those offered by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and other job training programs will be cut. General and special education federal funding will be cut, along with housing supports.

Please make your voice heard at these town hall meetings. The schedule is below:
