Grand Alliance of the Civil Society of Milwaukee to Save the Soldiers Home
- May 1 Celebration and Town Hall Meeting at the Steps of Old Main, “Mary’s Day” and “Workers Day”
- Lease or purchase the glorious tower rooms of the Soldiers Home “Castle,” i.e. “Old Main.” $5 per member per year would accomplish this.
- Rooms to be used for meetings, weddings, baptismal parties, plays, meditation, prayer, and study
- Raise $.10(a dime) per member to lobby to change the I 94 Sign to read
Historic Soldiers Home” Visitors Welcome”
rather then “Mitchell Blvd.” and “VA Grounds”
Soldiers Home “Old Main Turret Rooms Lease to Buy”
I propose that a Grand Alliance of the scores of long standing and effective Milwaukee Civil Society associations be formed to Save the Soldiers Home.
I move that a task force be established to determine the cost of winning control of the rooms at the top of each of the turrets at the Soliers Home.
I move that this task force create a web site on line that will become, in effect, a “virtual town hall” where the Save the Soldiers Home Movement can bring together diverse groups across geography, identity, and interest.
I move that we partner with educational institutions to help create the data base, intelligence, and communications software required for so ambitious a scheme, i.e. Milwaukee Public Interest, Small Business, and Social Enterprise groups save the Soldiers Home for use of the citizens in creative partnership with the veterans and the government.
I move that we invite the following organizations as starting groups to participate in a Grand Alliance to Save the Soldiers Home
