St Patrick’s/St. Brigid’s Day Grand All-City Alliance Gathering at Timbuktu
Here’s where we make our plans and celebrate each year’s event.
Dear All,
Please return this e-mail if you would like a 2 minute soap box moment!
And invite your friends to give voice! New voices welcomed!
Number 15 bus can deliver downtown and south side folks half block from Timbuktu!
So this year marks a new stage in the evolving St. Patrick Brigid Day All City Gathering at Club Timbuktu. We will be without the original Father Host of the event, Omar Gagale, now back in Somalia. And we must strive to fill the brilliant organizing role that has been played these past several years by Sura Faraj. In the way that I pray, I pray that as a St. Patrick Brigid “community” we will be able to survive this new challenge.
“Emergent Organizing”
Without Sura it is quite possible that we will have to frame the event with an eye toward tolerance for the lack of a level of professional coherence that has marked recent celebrations.
- Youssouf Komara Has Welcomed Us From 5 to 8 p.m.
Afterwards we can parade over to the Public House to celebrate their one year anniversary!
- Hannah and Janine are likely organizers of the door $5 Ticket Money Heroes
Babba or anyone else help out here?
- Holly, Howard, and KT are likely responsibles for the sound system, music, and mc coordination
- George and Jahmes are likely ceremonial conveners
- Would it be appropriate to include female conveners too, sharing the honor?
- Jacob Hey will likely be a timekeeper. Any back ups?
- Barbara Wesson’s Nia Dancers are likely performers. What’s best time for this?
- If soap box orators hope for an earlier or a later time slot for their 2 minute moment, this will only have a chance of happening if e-mails are sent to me, who will keep the list and share it up through March 6. I may be going to out of town until March 16 and am imagining the possibility of a travel glitch that finds me absent and w/o communication capacity.
What am I forgetting?

I would like to present “How to build a solar hot air/solar hot water panel” somewhere in the first section - 6–6:30pm.
James, Janine,
Please cog me into the 2-minute soapbox lineup for St. Pat’s, tip me as to my appointed time slot.
I’ll do “A Place Where Water Sparkles”, a passionate piece about Wisconsin water, spirituality, and apt for this moment in the ongoing mine/water campaign.

Hi Godsil,
Hope this finds you golden.
Who’s compiling the schedule for Soap Box Moments? We’ve finally
finished our articles of incorporation for the Riverwest Cooperative
Alliance and I’d love to be able to take a minute to announce this
accomplishment.
Be well.
Peace,
Gib
I am game! Count me in.

Put Transition Milwaukee down for the grand opening of the DIY Post Peak jitney transit LLC and a few words on What is Peak Phosphorus?
I’m getting all the soap box moments mixed up. Put us down for St Pat’s soap box as well if we did not allready sign up.

I would love a 2-minute soap box for Express Yourself Milwaukee on the earlier side of the evening. Thanks Olde. And I love your email to folks.
Just to clarify a few things please,
Is the event on Sat March 17th? The actual St Pat’s day? Nice to have it on a weekend!!
Is there a band set to play?
I am committed to being an Emcee from 5–6:30 or so if I am needed/wanted, solo or with someone else.
Regarding NIA:
I wonder if Nia could get us moving somewhere in the beginning and in the middle, maybe the end too if there is no band.
Maybe no band this year since we only have until 8pm?
Conscious IPOD playlist?

Dear James,
I believe that if I struggle, I can find something worthwhile to say for at least 1:43. I can’t promise the last 17 seconds.
Anyway. If it’s appropriate, I’d be happy to take two minutes to talk about coops and cooperative development. Or the middle east. Or the co-op’s new softball team.
Best,

I would love to do a “dance break” with Nia. One rousing song is 5minutes or so….maybe an encore? And I would like 2 minutes about CORE/El Cento as well if you don’t mind. That weekend we move into our new digs! Woohoo. See you soon.

I’d like to do a poem, don’t know which one, since I premiered my CORPORATE COUP there last March 17, and Citizens United is the issue of the day! I could possibly collaborate with Jahmes on Jungle Rap (or some other poem that I’ve yet to write) if he’ll be there. Depends on the amount of time I have, too! I could represent Earth Poets (have to consult the rest of the group on that), or just me.
Thank YOU, Sz

I would love to do a “dance break” with Nia. One rousing song is 5minutes or so….maybe an encore? And I would like 2 minutes about CORE/El Cento as well if you don’t mind. That weekend we move into our new digs! Woohoo. See you soon.

Jahmes said yes, so we’ll work something out! I’ll check wi Earth Poets to see if we’re representing them. Maybe Jahmes has an idea for two young apps!! Sz

This is great news George!
I hope we are blessed with another 33.5 years of your Activist Libation Ceremony.
I would like to make a Milwaukee Renaissance front page story of your Libation Ceremony,
before the Timbuktu event. If you have time and the Spirit moves you, might you send me a few paragraphs or pages that describe how it came to pass that the Rastafarian Tribe of Ghana so honored you?
This could be a fragment of the memoirs I hope to inspire you to begin sharing with us!
Grateful,
Godsil

Thank YOU, Sz
Might you prepare a digital preview so I can make a front page
Milwaukee Renaissance story to send forth and inspire people
to want to come to see you in person.
Please mention your TED talk miracle and how it happened!
