To educational organizations:

The Wisconsin Arts Board “Artist in the Community Collaboration” collaboration grant is coming up on deadline October 16th. (Info and link below)

This is the grant that enabled me to be the artist in residence for the (then) Wisconsin Lake Schooner Project which produced the “Schooner Songbag” CD and the monthly shanty sings.

While I probably cannot apply for the same thing, I’m looking for ideas for community partners who would like to do a project with me in the coming year.

This could encompass schools, elders, communtiy events. concerts, TV shows or whatever fit we can find between the needs of the community and my abilities.
(listed at www.davidhbdrake.com)

Any thoughts on who to approach to partner with and what kind of project we could propose are most appreciated.

You have received this message because you have either applied to this grant program in the past, or you have contacted the Arts Board and asked to be informed of news regarding this program.

NOTIFICATION: The Artist & Community Collaborations eGRANT application is now live. Please go to www.arts.state.wi.us and click “Program Descriptions” under “WAB Grants” in the black sidebar to locate the program. Note that the applicant to this particular grant program must be the individual artist, not the partner organization. From the Artist & Community Collaborations page, click on the eGRANT link and thoroughly read the section entitled “General eGRANT Tips & Instructions.” Once you have created the Artist & Community Collaborations eGRANT application, review the guidelines (link on first page of application form) before working on the application form.

Here are some common mistakes to avoid:

- Duplicate registrations: If you have registered before, or ever filled out an eGRANT application in the past, DO NOT REGISTER AGAIN! If you have forgotten your login name and/or password, or aren’t sure if you have registered before, please call or email Dale Johnson (contact info below) and ask for assistance.

- Individual registration as first name - last name: We ask that individuals register last name first, then first name in this format: Last name, First name. If you registered incorrectly in the past, please login, access your applicant profile and edit your name to fit the format Last name, First name.

- Data entered in all upper or lower case: Some applicants enter their name and address info, as well as other data, in all upper or lower case. Please don’t do this. Capitalize the first letter of your name as you would in a normal sentence.

- Waiting too long to begin the process: START EARLY! Help calls increase dramatically as the due date approaches. We are a small agency and may not be able to assist you with problems if you wait until the due date to begin your application.

Note that the deadline IS 3PM on the due date. However, when you log in, the deadline time will appear as 3:59:59 PM because the eGRANT servers are located in the Eastern Time zone. The submission time is 3PM so staff can be in the office to assist applicants working up to the deadline.

Remember that we communicate via e-mail only. It is vital that we have your current e-mail address at all times. It is your responsibility to keep the Arts Board informed of changes in your e-mail address. We will not be able to inform you of future grant opportunities without this information.

If you have any questions, please contact the Artist & Community Collaborations coordinator: Mark Fraire, via email or phone: mark.fraire@arts.state.wi.us or 608–264–8191.

If you have technical questions or problems concerning eGRANT, please contact:

Dale Johnson via email or phone: dale.johnson@arts.state.wi.us or 608–261–8217.
