John Goldstein is President of the Milwaukee County Labor Council, with 50,000 members in 150 affiliated local unions. He is currently on leave from his bus driving job at the Milwaukee County Transit system, where he began working in 1979.

For thirty years, John has worked to involve Union members and community allies in improving Milwaukee. He has worked on expanding our transit system, strengthening public education, linking minority workers to family supporting jobs, defending the rights of immigrant workers, passing living wage ordinances, the Labor Peace ordinance, anti-sweatshop ordinances, and most recently the Park East Redevelopment compact.

He has also led the political work of the Labor Council since 1998. Priorto that, he chaired Progressive Milwaukee, helping elect progressive candidates to local positions.

He currently co-chairs the Good Jobs and Livable Neighborhoods coalition, and serves on the Boards of Bradley Tech, the American Jewish Committee, and
the LGBT Center Advocates.
