Anywhere Timbuktu & Lula goes…Summer Fest…African World Fest (Really needs the life Timbuktu & Friends can provide)

Anywhere…there must be a vibrant village around the food…music-art-engagement…I suggest a performance circle(mini stage) w/ different hosts throughout the day and some real culture…sampling of food…traditionally dressed host…it is not hard to put together. I could have my cultural arts programs working on free performances and all that jazz…so much potential. I am getting ready to start planning on the 4th Annual Summer of Peace Event…I need to know how we are proceeding so I can build it into my beautifully busy schedule.
I think we should have a brainstorming/action group. Count me in.

I’m excited…I will put all my energy into this…we must create a “Bankole Day” with Lula during Summer Fest. I will rally artists and creative activists to support…make summer fest about more than booze….let’s add some real cultural connections and show Milwaukee’s beautiful quilt of people, music & art at this grand festival…

Dear Jeff,

I would appreciate you help in inspiring the Summerfest Board
To welcome Lula’s East African Cafe to Summerfest 2006.

For 3 or 4 years Omar Gagale of Lula’s East African Cafe and Club Timbuktu has petitioned for a spot at Summerfest. Here are their web sites.

Our city would greatly advance the cause of racial reconciliation
And an awakening to the wider world with Lula’s gracing Summerfest.

Here is what a local reporter for the “Riverwest Currents” and a
Highly respected activist who works with city youth has to say about this concept:

Black Sky’s Response:

I think it most appropriate…gentle emails

sweet…sweet campaign and beneficial to all…
