Mike Timm, BVC assistant editor, asked me to post this info for this group:

Comments on live fire zones

If anyone is interested in logging their comments about the Coast Guard’s proposal to establish permanent live firing zones in Lake Michigan, with one out from Milwaukee and another out from Racine in our immediate area, with a total of 14 Lake Michigan zones and others throughout the Great Lakes, the closest meeting to Milwaukee is Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the Genesee Theater, 203 N. Genesee St., Waukegan, Ill.

There is an open house from 4 to 5:30pm with a public meeting to follow from 5:30 to 8pm. The public meeting is for the public to record and formally enter their comments on the proposed zones.

To my knowledge, there is no meeting scheduled closer to Milwaukee. Another is scheduled Nov. 8, but in Sturgeon Bay, at the Stone Harbor Resort and Conference Center, 107 N. First Ave.

The public comment period closes Nov. 13.

Those unable to attend the Waukegan meeting may submit comments to the Docket Management Facility website at http://dms.dog.gov/. Docket #25767.
