Public Invited to Courthouse to Learn About County Government

(MILWAUKEE) The Milwaukee County Board will host the 3rd Annual Open House from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 in Room 201 of the Milwaukee County Courthouse, 901 N. 9th St.

The free event is designed for local residents to learn about County government and reforms proposed at both the state and local levels. The event will include a County-Wide Resource Fair featuring each County departments employment opportunities.

As the center of County government and the Circuit Courts, the Courthouse is always a hub of activity, said Board Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic. We hope everyone enjoys their visit to one of the most spectacular buildings in Southeastern Wisconsin.

This is just part of our effort to reach out to the residents of Milwaukee County so that we can hear from them. If residents already attended one of our Outreach for Unified Reform (OUR) Milwaukee County sessions, they know that Milwaukee County residents are passionate about County government. Like me, they want to see reform and efficiency in government. They do not want to see change imposed by Madison, they want to be a part of the local reform effort.

Dimitrijevic thanked Supervisor Peggy Romo West for organizing the event.

The Open House is held in April each year because it is County Government Month. This year, the Board has added an “Our County” poster contest in which 4th graders from across the County were invited to participate so they could learn more about their County.

Door prizes, light refreshments and Courthouse tours will be provided.
