State Agency Unveils Building Dementia- Friendly Communities Tool Kit
Guide will help communities and businesses develop ways to be accessible and welcoming to people with dementia and their care partners
MADISON Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Secretary Kitty Rhoades today unveiled the agencys latest step toward making the state dementia-capable. The Building Dementia-Friendly Communities tool kit provides guidance to communities and businesses to become more accessible and welcoming to residents with Alzheimers disease and related dementias, and their care partnersmost often a spouse or adult child.
We know that dementia is a progressive disease, and people who have been diagnosed with it still want to follow their usual routines as long as theyre able. This tool kit offers creative ideas and insights on how to help people with memory issues, and their caregivers, feel more comfortable and less isolated in their communities, Rhoades said.
